Dark World

I forgot who I was

in the shower today–

washed away every sense of identity

in the blinding lights

of a faded white room.

And just minutes before I had walked through the night

and had smiled sweetly

at the shadow behind me,

knowing that here I could play

and that here I could hide

and I would always be kept safe

by the promise of a dirty

dark

world.
