366 Poems: September 18th, 2016

Laryngitis

I was angry that you were afraid to speak out,

but then again I was too.

For I had not yet perfectly crafted the words

that were needed to change a mind.

And as the lights faded away I rewrote them

over and over, line by line.

But in an age with feelings so fragile,

where so many people want to change the world

but not lose theirs,

who has the time?
