Long Summer Days

The bright sun against my eyelids

makes the world look green,

the sky turn a shade of grey,

and a flurry of orange and purple spots

that move wherever my eyes move.

It’s hot,

the days are long,

and the sky doesn’t know

where it’s going…

and neither do I.

But at least here,

on the roof,

in the light,

in the air,

with you…

at least I can wish the day was longer.
