Settling

Everywhere I shine my light

I see the dust already settling,

telling me this chance is old

and lost and dead and gone.

.

And you might think, in this girl’s fight,

a loss might be slightly unsettling

But I stand, my voice so bold:

“Nice try; I’m keeping on.”
