you know that’s a stronger word than I think people realize.

Because unconditionally means that you’ll love him

when he leaves you in the dirt,

that you’ll love her

when she stabs you in the back,

that you’ll stay with him

when he hits your stained-glass heart with a hammer,

that you’ll stay with her

when she digs her fingernails into your mind,

when she lies about loving you,

when she cheats,

when she steals,

when she’s only looking for the next best thing,

when she doesn’t see you the way she did

And yet here you stand

with your heart on your sleeve

and the word: “unconditionally.”

Am I really so worth it?
