Evolution

It has almost become cliché to say

that something must end

to begin–

that to stop drowning,

one must breathe the sin of oxygen.

And to walk,

one must end the lives of a hundred seeds.

And to thrive,

one must take what they can from others

without worrying about anyone else’s desires…

Change is destructive.

It aligns the fates of planets forever

and can send a whole world to its doom…

but your life

is a work in progress,

your struggles a simple process

of natural selection.

And it has almost become cliché to say

that what doesn’t kill you

makes you stronger–

But darling, it does.
