Not So Little

There’s a little girl who’s not so little

curled up on the seat of the bus.

She’s had a long day

and her eyes now fall closed.

You sit on the other side with your headphones in,

pretending not to notice or care.

But you look at her, and you think,

“She’d be one to fall asleep with.”

And in her head, she dreams

that you could.

How long did it take you to realize

that you would?
