A Study of Flowers

I could admire the sunflower

for standing tall in summer’s heat,

with a great face and petals bright

and a place to sit in the limelight.

A king with no killer to fear

seems like a flower to revere…

But I would focus on the crocus

hunched up so short in melting snow,

because it may not be so tall

but it still has farthest to fall.

To fight the cold and stay to grow

is more brave than we’ll ever know.
