Red Shoes and Moving On

I was afraid of losing you

and everyone in kind.

There was only one class

when your eyes glowed for me,

but when that was gone,

would you care?

Would I be lost in the crowded hallways

and never see your red shoes

or fallen-angel smiles again?

Would I be left with nothing but memory

and a couple poems on a blog?

I “was” afraid of losing you

and a couple other boys.

I saw you at an assembly yesterday

but when the bell rang,

I didn’t care.

This time, my red shoes walked away from you.
