Snakes

There are no snakes in Ireland.

Yes that we can safely say.

St. Patrick came with his wooden staff

and drove them all away.

They fled their hills at greater pace

to the sea and to the sun.

They feared for what the men had brought;

for what man had become.

They left their shores of living green,

hoping for a reason in gold,

but all they found was as black as death

and bars on the shores of old.

They are snakes in Ireland.

We swear it is no lie.

BUT THERE ARE PLENTY OF SNAKES IN LONDON,

and I bet you can guess why.
